HOW TO SURVIVE COMING BACK TO CLASSES.
By. RodriguezUC
Vacations are over and students/teachers returned to campus. They all seem to be ready to begin this new adventure. Depending on their role, teachers or students, hearing the words ¨back to class¨ may have a different effect on them.
Students experience different feelings. Some students are anxious. If you are in this group, it is probable, you cannot remember what to bring to class or how those first days are. Do not worry! At the end of this third week, you will be used to this routine. Other students are very enthusiastic. If you were longing for this moment from the very start of vacation, you are more than ready for those long exams and these weeks will not be traumatic for you. Enjoy, you are back!!!
HOW STUDENTS CAN HELP TO MAKE THIS TRANSITION EASIER:
1. Be enthusiastic about the upcoming semester.
2. Prepare yourself.
3. Put extra time and effort.
4. Organize your schedule
5. Set realistic expectations
6. Learn vocabulary effectively
Teachers also have different perceptions. Some teachers are already prepared for this journey. They spent some of their vacation time planning for the semester or have already taught the assigned classes. Other educators are catching up with the program or getting familiar with the university if they are new. All teachers are in the process of knowing their students in order to have a successful semester and to have fun before exams. These weeks many teachers have commented how nice students at Central are.
HOW TEACHERS CAN HELP TO MAKE THIS TRANSITION EASIER:
1. Be innovative
2. Be punctual
3. Use a variety of tasks
4. Do formal and informal assessment
5. Work all language skills but do not forget the intercultural component
6. Practice makes perfect!!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
A house is never still in darkness to those who listen intently; there is a whispering in distant chambers, an unearthly hand presses the snib of the window, the latch rises. Ghosts were created when the first man awoke in the night.

I recommend all the students not to be shy and ask questions if they don't know or don't understand what the teacher has explained. Also I advise to follow the rules established at the beginning of the course.
Bye.
